Stage 1: Pre Selection Phase PSP 1 in Amsterdam or Dubai.
The offical 2-stage (actually 3-stages) Emirates selection programme follows a fixed format and starts for european applicants with Pre Selection Phase PSP 1 in Amsterdam or Dubai for applicants outside Europe.
It consists of a Simulator Assessment at B737 or A320 (basic rough data flying incl. single engine procedure) and a standardised test to assess capacity skills and aptitude.

After an early briefing, the candidates are split into groups of 4, of which 2 pilots per group must take the capacity test or the SimulatorScreening in the morning or afternoon. With the capacity test, some typical operational tasks from the pilots' area of work are simulated; the following is tested, amongst other things:
At the end of day 1, the decision is taken which candidates are invited to the Assessment Part on stage 2.
Stage 2: PSP 2 in Dubai and and stage 3 Assessment Centre
PSP 2 (PSP 1 continues) contains the psychometric testing with the Advanced Control Test plus some guided tours of Emirates accommodations, Medical Clinics and schools etc.
Last step (exception of the medical of course) in the selection process is the Assessment Centre with group exercises and panel interview.
During the Assessment Part, the candidates undergo various test phases that must be passed by the candidates as individual or group tasks. In addition to a first profile analysis with a psychological questionnaire, presenting oneself on a flip chart as well as group games and individual interviews are part of the programme. As part of the group task, decision-making competence, social behaviour and potentials for target implementation, amongst other things, are analysed; the aim is to take the correct decisions during the test phase under time pressure
